Bernhard Worms was born on 14 March 1930 in Stommeln (Germany). After high school and apprenticeship as an ironwork trader, he studied business administration at the University of Cologne. In 1957 he completed his studies with a diploma in Business Administration. In 1960, he joined the Civil Service at the German Post Office.
