Dzobak Volodymyr Dzobak Volodymyr

Kuchma: Our neighbour does not want to see Ukraine stable

One of the participants of the trilateral contact group "Ukraine-EU-Russia" and a former President of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma believes that peacekeeping in the East of the country is a long-term process according to his announcement made to journalists in the 11th Yalta European Strategy (YES) Annual Meeting in Kyiv on Friday.

Regarding the situation on the border and the process of implementation of the agreements on Russia's part, Kuchma said "nobody practically withdraws (their armed forces):  neither Ukraine, nor the PRL, nor the PRD, nor Russia."

In his opinion, the stability of Ukraine in the near future is possible only under one condition - "If we take control of the border".
