The rebels "battle" against each other: they have carried out attacks on Donetsk and Gorlovka


Several rebel factions are engaged in an armed clash between each other; the town of Gorlivka was shelled and Donetsk was mortared during last 24 hours, ATO  Press Centre reported on the morning of 7 July.

"ATO forces have been observing armed conflicts between different armed gangs. As a result of clashes, Gorlovka was assaulted yesterday from the side of Kondrativka district, and Donetsk was mortared from the village of Zhdanivka," the statement reads.

Three civilians died during attacks on Kyiv district of the city of Donetsk just the day before, and four others were wounded.

Seven civilians  died in Donetsk over the weekend as a result of ongoing fighting.

The situation in Donetsk is very tense. People continue to die

4 civilians died in Donetsk on Monday and more than 10 people were wounded by shell splinters, the press-service of the City Hall reported on Tuesday morning.

The City Council also added that the last night in the city was relatively quiet. As of this morning, the situation remains tense.

The communal services are working in normal mode, and public transport is operating in accordance with its schedule.


Moskal: Three civilians killed, and eleven members of law enforcement units wounded in Lugansk region


Three civilians were killed, and eleven servicemen were wounded in Lugansk region in the past 24 hours as a result of rebels' shelling, Gennady Moskal, the head of Lugansk regional state administration, reported on his official page on Tuesday.

He additionally notes that the situation in Lugansk region worsened overnight significantly.

The terrorists fired upon the 24th assault battalion stationed near the Schastya thermal power plant. Three soldiers were wounded, one of whom badly.

A tractor was blown up by a mine in Bilovodsk district when working out in the field near the border with Russia. The tractor driver is alive. The area has been rung in, as there exist suspicions regarding an extensive mine laying.

Anatoliy Matios, a deputy prosecutor general and the chief military prosecutor said at a briefing as reported by "Ukrainian News”.

Matios added that the insurgents continued to assault positions of ATO forces.

According to him, in total, 953 Ukrainian military of whom 745 soldiers of the Ukrainian Army, 69 members of the Ministry of the Interior, 58 members of the State Border Guard Service, 10 of the Security Service of Ukraine, 63 members of the National Guard have been killed since the beginning of the ATO.

He additionaly announced that, in general, 3627 people had been wounded.

Majority of Donbas residents would like to live in Ukraine

The majority of Donbas residents would prefer to remain part of Ukraine, but with wider latitude, a survey conducted by the Deminitiative Foundation shows, as reported by  DT.ua.

The citizens of Donbass believe it would be a better option for the region to remain part of Ukraine if it obtained greater independence from Kiev (42 %).

At the same time the wish that Donbass (“PRD" and "PRL") were to become an independent state is extended by 26 % of people, and only 16% see it as part of Russia.

Only 7% of Donbas citizens agree with the idea that Donbas should be what it had been before.

The situation in other parts of Ukraine is completely different.

Only 5% of Ukrainians are ready to give up Donbass for Russia, and 7% agree with its "independence".

45,5 % of Ukrainians would like Donbass to remain part of Ukraine on the same conditions as before, but already 32,5 % agree to grant it more independence.

The survey was conducted on 12 to 21 September 2014 in 110 settlements in all regions of Ukraine apart from the Crimea and Lugansk region.

NATIONAL SECURITY AND DEFENSE COUNCIL: The terrorists have once again intensified attacks on positions of ATO forces

The expectations regarding the truce are not likely to come true, for the terrorists are intensifying shelling of ATO forces, a spokesman for the National Security and Defence Council Andriy Lysenko said at a briefing on Tuesday.

"Despite the high expectations for ceasefire, Russian mercenaries and terrorists continued to fire at and attack positions of ATO forces yesterday", Lysenko said. 

Military criminals carried out an attack on residential blocks of the village of Olkhovatka from the side of Timofiivka in Shakhtarsk district of Donetsk region and mortared the town of Popasna from the village of Kalynove, Lugansk region.

The largest number of attacks was detected by our military units near the settlements of Debaltsevo and Starognativka in Donetsk region, and near the town of Schastya in Lugansk region.

No armed clashes were spotted beyond the ATO area, the National Security Council stressed.

Rebels have sent their unmanned aerial vehicles to Mariupol

Border guards have recorded more cases of air observation conducted by the insurgents, a spokesman for the National Security Council Andriy Lysenko reports.

"Border Guards have also witnessed a demonstrative rotation of the Russian military in the annexed Crimea opposite the check point "Chongar". The replacement came on 15 KAMAZ trucks and formed up soon after that", he added.
