OSCE: PRL rebels and Ukrainian military come to an agreement on ceasefire

The Lugansk insurgents and the Ukrainian Army agreed on ceasing fire from 5 December onwards, as well as on withdrawing all heavy armaments starting from 6 December; an  OSCE report dated December 1 says that such a decision was made at a meeting in Lugansk on 29 November.

The meeting was attended by a Ukrainian military representative, Vladimir Askarov, by the head of the “Russian representative office", General Olexander Lentsov, and several PRL representatives.

It was all about agreements reached earlier, which had not worked.

According to an OBSE report, all parties agreed that a full ceasefire would have to be implemented along the front lines separating the Ukrainian forces and PRL troops on December 5.

52 attacks within 24 hours: 2 civilians killed and 4 others wounded

Rebels carried out 52 attacks on positions of ATO forces in the past 24 hours using artillery and mortars, the ATO press centre reported on the morning of December 2.

Gunmen fired upon the inhabited settlements of Donetsk, Popasna, Stary Aidar, Krymske, Makarove, Schasya, Stanychno-Luganske, Sokolniki, Pisky, Donetsk, Avdiivka, Petrovske, Mykolaivka, Novobakhmutivka, Slavne, Nevelske, Tonenke, Marinka, Artemovo, Debaltseve, Mayorsk, Shumy, and Nikishyne.

We have received information about 4 people wounded and 2 civilians killed, the ATO press centre reports.

Some additional military measures had to be taken in the Mariupol direction to combat enemy raiding parties.

NATO Secretary General: Separatists and Russia do not adhere to the Minsk agreements

NATO believes that the Minsk agreements are systematically violated by the Russian party and insurgents in Donbas, while Ukraine keeps abiding by them, Secretary General of the Alliance Jens Stoltenberg said at a press-conference in Brussels on Tuesday, as reported by a correspondent of the  "European Truth".  .

It should be noted here that NATO regularly reports about the Russians violating Minsk treaty provisions.

2 servicemen killed in the past 24 hours

2 soldiers killed and 4 others wounded in the past 24 hours in the ATO area, a spokesman for the Ukrainian National Security and Defence Council, Andriy Lysenko, reported at a briefing. 

According to the colonel, 52 attacks were conducted in total on positions of Ukrainian military by rebels within 24 hours.

A meeting regarding the implementation of the Minsk Memorandum is to be held in the city of Donetsk with the participation of Ukrainian, Russian military and OSCE observers, as well as representatives of several Donetsk districts," the press-service of the Defence Ministry reported on Tuesday morning.

It says that the leadership of the Joint Centre of the Ukrainian and Russian parties have gone to the city of Donetsk in order to hold a meeting with the participation of OSCE observers and several representatives of Donetsk region.

The Donetsk airport and areas adjacent to it, the outskirts of the towns of Schastya and Novobakhmutivka are the most troublesome territories in terms of observance of the truce.

Generals of the Ukrainian and Russian Armed Forces also called for ceasing fire  at the Donetsk airport on Monday.

Poltorak: 6 thousand Russian military in Ukraine

Acting Defence Minister Stepan Poltorak assessed the number of Russian servicemen currently present in the territory of Ukraine at six thousand people, "Ukrainski Novyny" report with a reference to journalists.

"Around six thousand," he said replying to a question.

Poltorak was not specific regarding where they were deployed.

An MP, Dmytro Tymchuk, has also confirmed the information provided by Poltorak. According to Tymchuk, the total number of Russian mercenaries and military stationed in the territory of Ukraine totals app. 14 thousand people.

"I think that this (six thousand servicemen) can be true, for, in general, there are around 14 thousand gunmen including mercenaries in Ukraine according to our information," he said.
