Turchynov: Russian army can go on the offensive
Russia could wage a full-scale war against Ukraine, Secretary of the Security and Defence Council Oleksandr Turchynov announced during his speech to the Verkhovna Rada.
According to him, there are several possible scenarios in the east of Ukraine.
In particular, Turchynov does not rule out a full-scale offensive of the Russian army in the territory of Ukraine.
"Russian terrorist factions show great disrespect and disregard for provisions of the ceasefire deal. They do not kill only military", he said recalling the tragedy near Volnovakha.
National Security and Defence Council Secretary stresses that there are 36 thousand terrorists, including 8 thousand servicemen of the Russian standing army in rebel-held territories of Donbas. They possess 542 tanks, 990 combat armoured vehicles, 694 artillery systems, 4 rocket complexes "Tochka U", up to 57 anti-aircraft missile systems.
He also added that there were about 52 thousand Russian military with a great offensive potential , more than 300 tanks, over 1800 armoured vehicles, up to 360 combat aircraft and helicopters waiting along the border with Ukraine in fighting trim.
Rebels increasing the number of attacks: 129 shell strikes within the 24 hours. 44 attacks overnight
Rebels carried out 129 attacks on army positions within the past 24 hours of the anti-terrorist operation; they opened fire 44 times from 6 p.m. Wednesday till early hours of Thursday, the ATO press-centre posted on the Facebook wall on the morning of January 15.
"Illegal paramilitaries are increasing the number and intensity of shell strikes on positions of our forces and peaceful settlements," it states. According to them, the new terminal of the Donetsk airport, which Ukrainian military were not going to yield, was fired upon with barrel artillery and grenade launchers at 2.30 a.m.

Lugansk region shelled with artillery and Grad volley fire systems; people seek shelter in basements
Settlements situated in government-held territories of Lugansk region are under constant artillery and mortar fire, Head of Lugansk Regional State Administration Gennadiy Moskal posted on his official page on Thursday.
28 cases of rebel shelling were recorded in Lugansk region over the period of time from Wednesday till this morning: the settlements of Stanyza Luganska, Schastya, Krymske, Tryokhizbenka, Kryakivka, Chornukhine, Zolote, and Popasna came under fire.
The last shell strike on Schastya was carried out today at 3 o'clock a.m. There were no casualties among civilians, as well as no significant damage to infrastructure was reported. It was quiet in the town in the morning, city life-support systems were operating well everywhere except for the districts, which had come under artillery fire.
2 killed, 6 others wounded in the last 24 hours

ATO press centre: Rebels have fired upon ATO positions 22 times today
Just today, insurgents have carried out 22 attacks on positions of ATO forces, the ATO press-centre reports.
From 6.00 to 14.00 Thursday, illegal armed formation shelled army positions 22 times.
They are continuing to attack the Donetsk airport with machine-guns, grenade launchers, tanks, rocket artillery, and are attempting to seize it.
