Ministry of Defence: "Cyborgs" hold positions at the airport; 16 fighters in rebels' captivity, and 6 others killed
Ukrainian military still have control over several buildings and a piece of territory of the Donetsk airport, the ATO press-centre of the Ministry of Defence announced on the morning of January 22.
"Fierce fighting is still going on around the Donetsk airport. Some of the buildings and part of the airport are controlled by Ukrainian soldiers," the statement reads.
"Yesterday, 20 service members of the Armed Forces of Ukraine fought their way backward from the airport, for their positions were completely ruined," the ministry explains.
"16 servicemen of the Armed Forces were wounded during the fight and fell prisoner," it added.
6 Ukrainian soldiers died in action in the past 24 hours fighting for the airport.
"As of 9 o'clock a.m., January 22, fighting near the airport is in progress", the report reads.
Civilians die in Donetsk as a result of shelling a traffic interchange
According to various data, from 9 to 15 people died as a result of shelling a traffic interchange in Donetsk.
