Linkevičius: Supplying weapons to Ukraine is a logical move
Supplying weapons to Ukraine would be the next logical move, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius told journalists in Brussels just before a meeting of foreign ministers of the EU countries.
"It would be a logical step," he said answering a question about US intentions to provide Ukraine with lethal weapons.
We have to help Ukraine. Not by sending troops, because such an option is out of question, but I would say by providing defensive weapons, Linas Linkevičius asserted.
According to him, some of NATO countries have already supplied weapons to Ukraine, and some are considering doing so.
Bildt: Russia will try to occupy Debaltseve before Wednesday
Russian troops will do everything possible to capture Debaltseve before a meeting in Minsk, which is scheduled for Wednesday, February 11, a former Sweden minister of foreign affairs, Carl Bildt, posted in Twitter.
"I think we should expect significant Russian efforts aimed at capturing Debaltseve before the Wednesday meeting in Minsk," he wrote.
According to politician's opinion, the Russians will suchwise try to confront their opponents with a new state of affairs.
As reported earlier, the Debaltseve base is one of the main directions, at which Russian troops and terrorists aim their main military efforts.
They have surrounded Debaltseve from several sides, but the Ukrainian army is holding the field.
Savchenko's lawyers file an application at the European Court
Lawyers of Nadiya Savchenko have filed an application at the European Court of Human Rights with a request to urgently take "provisional measures" for her case to be tried.
A document dated 9 February 2015 was published by a lawyer, Mark Feigin, in Facebook.
As of February 9, it is the 59th day, Savchenko has been on hunger-strike as a sign of protest against her illegal imprisonment in Russia. She may pass away because of doing so. Savchenko refused to stop the hunger strike and announced her willingness to step out.

The Russian agency notes that the army of the so-called "PRD" accounts for 7 - 15 thousand people at the moment. At the same time, even a journalist of this agency, which is well-known for its loyal attitude toward militants, did not spot any queues at Donetsk military registration and enlistment offices.
The publication adds that a mobilization has also been announced in the so-called "PRL".

Ukrainian military have repelled rebel attacks near Debaltseve and destroyed 4 tanks, a spokesman for the Ukrainian National Security and Defence Council, Andriy Lysenko, reported at a briefing. He noted that the situation near Debaltseve was especially difficult.
"Russian mercenaries carried out 13 attacks on the town in the past 24 hours and tried to storm our positions 5 times," Lysenko said. According to him, all attacks were repelled. Moreover, Ukrainian gunners managed to destroy 4 rebel tanks.
According to Lysenko, the goal of capturing the Debaltseve base is an attempt to force the Ukrainian authorities into making concessions and signing a truce on Kremlin's terms.
