The Program "Ethno-Eco 50 plus"

We have long cherished the idea of creating jobs through the revival of national crafts in the so-called depressed areas Volhyn. And recently we developed a program "Ethno-Eco 50 plus." This is the Program of creating jobs in depressed areas. Region of Implementation: Volyn and Rivne Oblasts of Ukraine. There, as in some other regions, are a large number of unemployed people, especially those people who belong to the age group "50 plus", above all women. Authorities have banned their inclusion in the official lists of the unemployed, motivated by the fact that they have plots of land and household. Taking this into account, the population of depressed areas virtually devoid of employment opportunities on the site that compels of many people to seek work outside their oblast or even outside Ukraine. For the same reason young people leave their homes, causing increasingly aging of population.

In these regions in the last century were common folk crafts, particularly weaving, tailoring with ethnic characteristics of folk art, carpet weaving, embroidery and more. In some villages there are still women who know how to weave cloth for home machines that previously produced both linen and hemp yarn. Since flax cultivation declined and growing hemp appeared outside the law, the industry of national crafts is practically destroyed. Renaissance of its will have not only the economic, but also cultural and ethnic significance. And taking into account the fact that the production of cloth, sack clothes, floor coverings, napkins and tailoring is absolutely clean, does not harm the environment, the implementation of the proposed project has the unique ability to create jobs with fully environmentally friendly production.

The main tasks of the project are:

- Revival of national crafts;

- The creation of environmentally friendly production in depressed areas;

- Creating jobs for citizens of older age (50 plus);

- Restoration of the "Dialogue of Generations": sharing experiences from grandparents to grandchildren.

The jobs, that we create in this project does not harm the environment. This is one of the advantages of the project "Ethno-Eco 50 plus."

At looms that have been preserved in some families in Volyn and which were purchased in other areas, it is launching the production of cloth, sack clothes, napkins, home-made old style floor coverings and much more. Initially interested aged persons with the assistance of weaving masters, studying the manufacturing techniques of weaving products from hemp and flax, first of all homemade hemp and linen slubber, which Volyn habitants in the past times used to made clothes. Then trained weavers get yarn (hemp and flax) and begin producing their own sheets.

Not delaying implementation plan for the long term, UARP has purchased six weaving machines on which we begin training of the ancient craft of weaving. Soon masters who have mastered the craft of weavers and seamstresses will start to teach weaving their own and neighborhood children and grandchildren. At the final stage of the program "Ethno-Eco 50 plus" young weavers and seamstresses who have mastered the skill of manufacturing ethnic fabric, skirts and other clothing and napkins and floor coverings will commence the independent production.

Expected results of the project implementation:

1. New jobs in depressed areas.

2. Involving older people in socially useful work. Support the fight against poverty.

3. Ensure 100-percent environmentally clean production.

4. Renaissance folk crafts, reproduction ethnic traditions of clothes and way of life of the village.

5. Encourage dialogue of generations to ensure continuity in folk crafts.
