Rebels hit a bus carrying civilians near Volnovakha. Casualties reported

Rebels hit a bus with civilians when carrying out an artillery attack on a roadblock of ATO forces; there are losses among civilians, Donetsk Police Chief Vyacheslav Ambroskin reported.

"A regular bus was hit directly. As of now, 10 people killed, and 13 others wounded. Information is being ascertained", he added.

Vladislav Seleznev, a spokesman for the General Staff of the Armed Forces, asserted that there were reportedly 6 women and 4 men among those killed.

Tymchuk: The situation in the ATO area worsens significantly

The situation in the Donbas conflict zone has deteriorated significantly for the last three days, Dmytro Tymchuk posted in his Facebook with a reference to data provided by the Information Resistance Group.

"Russian terrorist troops use the so-called ceasefire" to arrange organisational measures in order to raise the fighting efficiency of rebel factions, to repair equipment and weapons, which had previously been used in fighting, as well as to man their divisions," he writes.

"Intensifying bombardments of army positions and regrouping of enemy forces are disguised with an active information campaign accusing the Ukrainian part in "violating truce agreements," Tymchuk says.

Rebels attacked 84 times within 24 hours, including 26 times overnight

Tensions are escalating in the conflict zone in eastern Ukraine as rebels are increasing the frequency and intensity of bombardments of Ukrainian army positions and Donbas populated areas, the army said.

"The militants shelled our army positions 26 times overnight. Eleven populated areas and army positions situated nearby got under fire," the army operation press centre said in its report as of 7 a.m. on Tuesday.

The Donetsk airport and populated localities adjacent to it remain the epicentre of confrontations, the army noted.

"In all, our army positions were shelled 84 times by illegal armed units in the past 24 hours," the press centre stated.

Insurgents intensify shelling in Lugansk region: a civilian's killed in the town of Schastya

Militants' artillery, mortars and Grad rocket launchers kept bombing populated localities in the Ukraine-controlled areas of the Luhansk region last night, head of Luhansk regional state administration Gennadiy Moskal said.

A pedestrian suffered a fatal injury in the attack on a filtering station, he said. The 53-year-old man's leg was torn off and he bled to death. Two police officers protecting the filtering station were also injured. Both were taken to hospital, the report reads.

Rebels have carried out almost 900 attacks since the ceasefire was agreed on December 9

Rebels have carried out 877 shell strikes on positions of ATO forces, since the beginning of "ceasefire" in Donbas on December 9, Vladislav Seleznev, a spokesman for the General Staff of the Armed Forces said at a briefing on Tuesday, as reported by UNIAN.

According to Selezniov, the Ukrainian military strikes only in response to rebel attacks, in order to neutralize rebel fire positions.

As reported earlier, rebels fired upon Ukrainian positions 84 times in the past 24 hours according to the ATO press centre.

Militants shell the Donetsk airport: the air traffic control tower destroyed

The air traffic control tower of the Donetsk airport has collapsed, Ukrainian Armed Forces General Staff spokesman Vladislav Selezniov told Interfax on Tuesday.

"Yesterday, separatists shelled the tower. Today the tower collapsed," he said.

According to the press centre of the Ukrainian army tensions have sharply escalated near the Donetsk airport in the past few days. The press centre accused the "separatists" in shelling Ukrainian army's positions regularly with small arms, mortars and artillery systems.

An army spokesman, Andriy Lysenko, said that in recent days, militia forces have resumed attempts to attack the Donetsk airport.

One service member shot to death, and 10 others wounded in the ATO area

1 soldier was killed in the past 24 hours of the anti-terrorist operation, a spokesman for Ukrainian National Security and Defence Council, Andriy Lysenko, reported at a briefing.

He noted that the situation in Eastern Ukraine was still deteriorating.

Lysenko said that terrorists had attacked positions of Ukrainian military 84 times resulting in 33 settlements ruined.
