Dzobak Volodymyr Dzobak Volodymyr

OSCE: Grad MLRSs and other heavy armaments disappeared from rebels’ storage sites

The OSCE special monitoring mission has recorded the disappearance of previously withdrawn heavy weapons from rebels’ storage sites, according to an OSCE report dated April 19, and published on Monday.

“The SMM came back to six “PRD” storage sites, and could confirm the presence of all weapons previously seen by observers only at three out of six camps,” the report reads.

At one of the sites the number of heavy weapons corresponded to that recorded by the SMM on their previous visit, though observers were not allowed by ‘DPR’ representatives to check the serial numbers on armaments. At other sites none of the listed weapons were present. ‘PRD’ members claimed that the missing weapons had been taken away to prepare for a celebration of the victory over fascism, which is due to take place on May 9. All listed artillery units were missing at the other site, and no PRD members were to be seen around.

The mission also recorded repositioning of equipment, which was supposed to have been pulled back, in the government-held territories of Donbas.

The SMM reminded in its report that “committing any weapons, as well as deploying any heavy armaments in proscribed territories would be regarded as a violation of the Minsk agreement.”

Former head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic:

Putin won't stop, until he obtains the whole Ukraine

Russian President Vladimir Putin wants to control the entire Ukraine, and he may succeed eventually, Karel Schwarzenberg, a former foreign minister of the Czech Republic, said on Monday during a discussion regarding the security situation in the Baltic republics.

According to the Czech news agency, Schwarzenberg said that ‘Putin was neither mad nor stupid’.

“He would not get involved into such a big conflict, which could negatively affect Russia´s economic development and isolate Russia just to obtain rather obsolete industries in Donetsk or for the sake of a couple of Ukrainian villages. Putin wants to occupy the entire Ukraine."

Schwarzenberg said that two ceasefire agreements inked in Minsk would not stop Moscow from moving forward.

He also added that pro-Russian rebels in the east of Ukraine will eventually attack Mariupol, and it’s only a matter of time.

"Further negotiations will follow. There will be Minsk III, Minsk IV, Minsk V and Minsk VI. The demarcation line will eventually match the border line separating Poland and Ukraine; there will be peace for a while, and the Ukrainian conflict will be resolved," Schwarzenberg asserted.

He added that Putin´s goal was to restore the Russian empire.

ATO press centre: Rebels commit banned heavy armaments and tanks

Rebels breached the ceasefire in Donbas 17 times in the past 24 hours, the ATO press centre posted on its page in Facebook.

It says that Russian and terrorist forces violated the armistice along the demarcation line 17 times in the period between 6 pm and midnight April 20.

Illegal paramilitaries shelled positions of ATO forces with mortars - in 5 cases with 120-mm mortars - which is a gross violation of provisions of the Minsk agreement. The enemy committed to action heavy armaments, namely tanks and ICVs during armed clashes.

Our stronghold was fiercely attacked in Donetsk region near the settlement of Pisky, which was shelled by illegal paramilitaries three times with 120-mm mortars. Gunmen also fired grenade machine guns and 120-mm mortars on ATO positions near Avdiyivka.

Members of the so-called PRD carried out 4 attacks with tanks, including two strikes on our stronghold near the settlement of Shyrokine. Rebels attacked positions of Ukrainian troops deployed near the settlements of Mayorske, Opytne, Leninske, Vodyane, and Kirovo with mortars, tanks, grenade machine guns, and machine-guns.

A Ukrainian checkpoint near the village of Zhovte in Slovyanoserbsk district, Lugansk region, came under machine-gun fire.

An armed clash with machine-guns occurred near the village of Syze, Stanychno-Lugansk district, at 7.40 pm and lasted 20 minutes. Ukrainian troops drove rebels back by dense fire.

Additionally, the press service of the "Azov" regiment reported that positions of the regiment near Mariupol had been attacked on Monday with tanks and 120-mm mortars. A National Guard service member was wounded as a result of fighting.

General Staff: one service member killed and another wounded in the ATO area in the past 24 hours

One military died, and another one got wounded in the area of the anti-terrorist operation in the past 24 hours, a spokesman for the Ukrainian National Security and Defence Council, Andriy Lysenko, reported at a briefing on Tuesday.

According to him it happened near the settlement of Pisky close to the Donetsk airport.

Lysenko added that the situation in the area of the anti-terrorist operation is "stably tense, but controllable."

According to the ATO spokesman, rebels considerably intensified sniper fire.

At the same time Lysenko reassured that Ukrainian military maintain their positions along the whole demarcation line.
