Dzobak Volodymyr Dzobak Volodymyr

NATO Secretary General Noticed an Impetus for the Peace Process in Donbass

The situation in the east of Ukraine remains unstable, but there are some signs of progress, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg announced as reported on the NATO website.

In Ukraine, the situation remains fragile. But there are also signs of progress. I welcome the renewed efforts made by the leaders of the “Normandy Format” in Paris to fully implement the Minsk agreements. The understanding to postpone the elections planned by the separatists is a positive step. Any election must be held under Ukrainian law, he said.

And the ceasefire is holding and is being strengthened. The parties have announced that they will pull back tanks and other weapons from the contact line.  This creates hope and a momentum.

What is important now is the full implementation of the Minsk agreements. Russia has a special responsibility because Russia continues to support the separatists and to destabilize Eastern Ukraine.

Ruban: 23 Captives to Be Exchanged

The Centre for Liberation of Prisoners of War is ready to start exchanging prisoners from tomorrow onwards, and we already know that 23 people have been proposed to Kyiv for the first cartel, the head of the Centre for Liberation of Prisoners of War and the leader of Officer Corps Party, Volodymyr Ruban, told journalists at the Verkhovna Rada on Tuesday.

Spokesman: ATO Forces Withdraw the Majority of Tanks in the Lugansk Region

There were no breaches of the ceasefire in Donbass yesterday, which allows Ukrainian troops to continue pulling back military hardware from the demarcation line, according to the ATO press centre.

The long-awaited ceasefire allows the withdrawal of military equipment and weapons with a small calibre from the demarcation line. The relocation of Ukrainian tanks away from front lines will continue today in the Lugansk region," the ATO press service wrote on Facebook on Tuesday.

"It should be mentioned that the withdrawal of military equipment and weapons does not decrease the Ukrainian defence capabilities. If necessary, military personnel and weapons can be brought back in no time," the press centre said.

At the same time, the rest of ATO personnel will remain in their positions, it added.

Verkhovna Rada allows Foreigners to Fight on the side of Ukraine

The draft law on the amendments was supported by 229 MPs, according to an UNIAN correspondent.

The draft law amends the Law "On Military Duty and Military Service," according to which foreigners and stateless persons serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine shall be designated as military personnel.

In addition, the draft law amends Article 5 of the Law on the Armed Forces, according to which certain positions of personnel of the Ukrainian Armed Forces can be occupied by citizens performing alternative (non-military) service in accordance with the procedure established by the law.

According to the draft law, foreigners and stateless persons enrolled for military service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine for the first time shall officially undertake commitments to strictly abide by the Constitution and laws of Ukraine, and conscientiously fulfil the duties of military service.

In addition, the adopted bill strengthened criminal liability for financing mercenaries in armed conflicts.
