Dzobak Volodymyr Dzobak Volodymyr

As it was mentioned above, the President of the European Senior Citizens Union, President of the Senior Citizens Union of Germany Dr. Bernhard Worms visited the main UARP Office in Kyiv, got to know the Association’s activity, its programs, and, indeed, highly estimated them.

UARP arranged a meeting to Dr. Bernhard Worms with Mr. Bezrukov, the Director of the Institute of Gerontology of the Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine.

When the visit time came to an end, Dr. Bernhard Worms invited the Head of the UARP Council Volodymyr Dzjobak to the headquarters of the European Senior Citizens Union in Berlin.

And, at least, the Head of All-Ukrainian Association of Retired Persons arrived at Berlin where he was warmly welcomed by the European Senior Citizens Union’s President, Dr. Bernhard Worms.

During the meeting held in the atmosphere of mutual understanding, V. Dzjobak told about all the new that had appeared in the UARP work since Dr. Bernhard Worms had visited Kyiv. Indeed, during this comparatively small period of time UARP has significantly advanced by means of the activity improvement for the noble aim – the increase of the life quality of the elderly in Ukraine.

The UARP “ 50 plus” newspaper has been launched (for those who are 50 and over). The health insurance program has already started its implementation. The UARP medical program has been put in motion. The “Education for adults” program is initiated. The gender program has acquired a new shape. The goods and services discount program has spreaded within new regions of Ukraine. When Dr. Worms arrived at Kyiv, he was shown the catalogue of 250 enterprises, organisations, and establishments – the UARP partners – which participate in the discount program, whereas by the time of the meeting in Berlin their quantity increased to 700. Consequently, it is an evidence of program efficiency.

Mr. Dzjobak and Dr. Worms discussed the ways of further cooperation. They exchanged the opinions on those problems of the aged as well, which are characteristic not only for our society, but also for the pensioners of Germany and other European countries. The Head of the UARP Council Volodymyr Dzjobak told about what way the Association considers the ways of overcoming a range of problems of the Ukrainian society. Besides, he disclosed the negative attitude to the facts of age discrimination of the older citizens of Ukraine. Consequently, there is a sharp decrease in socially political role of pensioners, and the elderly in general, in the life of society. Dr. Worms was extremely interested in this problem.

„We encourage Your steps towards the assessment of the elderly’s rights in Ukraine, as we also consider artificial limitation of the activity area of the whole generation to be a grave mistake, among which millions of those are who could sufficiently benefit to the society and the state, – as Dr. Worms said. – And one of the objectives of our Senior Citizens Union is to give a comprehensive explanation - among politicians, as well as among the wide public – of that common truth, that ignoring the enormous intellectual potential means, despite a damage to the development of their country, violation of human rights”.

The Head of the UARP Council Volodymyr Dzjobak thanked the President of the European Senior Citizens Union, Dr. Bernhard Worms, for the warm reception and the opportunity provided to get familiar with the ESCU activity, with those problems, which are of great concern to UARP, ESCU, and German Senior Citizens Union.
